Danielson Suspended

Danielson Suspended for Six Months

Tom Danielson, a 37-year-old rider with Cannondale-Garmin, was suspended after failing a drug test. An out of competition sImple from July 9 tested positive for synthetic testosterone. The United States Anti-Doping Agency USADA suspended Danielson for six months just before he was to ride in the Tour of Utah to defend his two-time championship of that multistage race. Cannondale-Garmin and team general manager Jonathan Vaughters announced that Danielson was suspended from the team until his B sample is tested.
If the B sample confirms the initial positive reading of synthetic testosterone, then Danielson may be suspended for life from the sport. Danielson has been suspended before for participating in the Discovery Team doping scheme. He was suspended in 2012 for six months. Although Vaughters said that he would quit if anyone on his team were caught doping, the team said that Vaughters would remain as team general manager.
