Amgen TOC Coming to Ventura County

The 10th edition of the Amgen Tour of California (ATOC)announced the routes for the race. The ATOC returns May 10-17, 2015 for 8 stages running from north to south. Once again, the tour will pass through Ventura County for Stage 5, Santa Barbara to Santa Clarita, 95 miles with 7,600 ft of elevation gain. The peloton will Leave Santa Barbara at 11:45 AM, passing through Montecito and Carpinteria, then up over Casitas Pass on the way to Ojai on Highway 150 for the first KOM. Then the peloton will tackle another KOM on Dennison Grade, leaving Ojai going to the Upper Ojai Valley, followed by a fast descent into Santa Paula. Then the pros will take on Balcolm Canyon Road, which is very steep, then there is a technical descent down Grimes Canyon Road and then on to Santa Clarita, via Highway 126 through Piru. By that time of day, there should be a good tailwind for the last segment.
